The shire and the community could work together to greater enforcement process of illegal clearing cases under the Planning and Environment Act. (The Shire has PRIMARY CARRIAGE of this Act. They ARE the authority.) Stop the awarding of retrospective permits for alleged illegal clearing case.

Adopt and implement a Roadside Management Strategy. Undertake training of contractors and staff on the significance of roadside vegetation.

Initiate Vegetation Protection Overlays and Environmental Significance Overlays across significant areas of the natural environment in the Shire. Employ an Environmental Officer and coordinate an Environment Committee affiliated with the Local Government Act. Seek funding for initiatives. Become an ACTIVE member of the Biodiversity Reference Group (collection of Local Government areas in the Goulburn Broken Catchment) –

Strathbogie Shire is currently an ad-hoc member.
Firewood: Ban firewood collection on roadsides (for safety and environmental reasons). In lieu, initiate a community firewood depot area to service needs.

Adopt a Tree Management Strategy for each township in the Shire. Use reputable arborists for all work. Adopt an Urban Forestry Strategy for Euroa. List significant trees on the Tree Heritage Register.

Adopt rate rebates for high conservation land that is legally protected (eg with Trust for Nature Conservation Covenants)

Active support and advocacy for community-based environmental initiatives and issues.
